What Is a Regional Center?

Your local connection to services and support

Regional Centers are nonprofit organizations that contract with the California Department of Developmental Services to coordinate services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as established under the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act.

Each Regional Center works with individuals and families to develop an Individual Program Plan (IPP) that outlines the services needed to help a participant live as independently as possible, and connects families with approved, vendored providers to deliver those services. ASTLA is pursuing vendorization with Kern Regional Center to provide Adaptive Skills Training (Service Code 605).
